I think I need to call myself out and say that an extremely off-brand biography of Jimmy Buffet is also on my to-read pile. The weather has turned summery and it's calling to me. Brace yourselves!
You yanked me by the dopamine receptors back to very happy place with Personal Pan pizza. 🧠❤️🔥
By stupid luck I caught Rachel Khong reading from Real Americans at Brazos Books in Houston a couple weeks ago. Just the thing I needed.
I am reading The Book Thief with some breaks for lighter fare. Excited to start Valerie Perrin’s Forgotten on Sunday (not new, but new in EN translation) and Erika Krouse’s Tell Me Everything recommended by someone to one of Jane Friedman’s newsletter questions.
This reading program is already a highlight of 2024!
ooooh tell me everything has been on my library shelf since it came out but im, i think, scared??? also is there any other way to be yanked???!! i feel like you are contender for the pizza, get reporting!
Currently reading Real Americans, I also have The Cloisters, and Wanting on my nightstand too. I just finished Happily. I found the essays easy to read with just enough perspective and whimsy to get me thinking differently.
Miranda’s list contains some of my faves - see Nightbitch, All Fours and A ghost in the throat. Now I’m off to furiously update my already unfeasible “want to read” goodreads list with the titles from both.
I’ve got some oldies but goodies coming in hot at the top of my list: women who run with the wolves, fools crow: wisdom and power, the long delirious burning blue, dreamtime, hagstone, and giants on the skyline. Realizing I’m setting myself up for a midlife crisis/spiritual journey with this selection - wish me luck.

why are we talking about jimmy buffet all the time now?
Body Work. I read, I reread. And cycle repeats.
it was near the top of my list and now it's at the top!
A quick and inspiring read. Makes for good "procrastiwriting"—I think I'll go reread one of the essays now before I try and get some sentences out.
Oh good call I have not gotten to that yet but love her

I have to say the prospect of doing a book report excites me in a way that has surprised me.
nerds welcome
I had an urge to buy poster board and diorama supplies.

Oh, adding those to my list! Just finished Real Americans. That was a F-ing NOVEL. Epic.

Yes!!! Why be feasible?? So boring. What's on your list??
